Association Leadership Coalition Announces Executive Director Transition

Grant Carpenter, CAE departs after leading ALC through its rebrand, Mary Ann Passi, CAE to serve as Interim Executive Director

Indianapolis, IN -- The Association Leadership Coalition (ALC), the national coalition of chief executives and senior staff of state, regional, and international societies of association executives, today announced a transition in its executive leadership.

Grant Carpenter, CAE, who has served as ALC's Executive Director, will depart the organization on August 21, 2026, to pursue a new opportunity with a technology provider serving the association industry. Carpenter's tenure includes guiding ALC through its recent rebrand from the Association Societies Alliance, launched this summer alongside a new visual identity, website, and strategic direction for the organization.

Mary Ann Passi, CAE will step in as Interim Executive Director following Carpenter's departure. Passi brings 32 years of experience in association management, including nearly 27 years with Raybourn Group International, ALC's management company. She was recognized as ISAE's Association Executive of the Year in 2022.

Passi will assume day to day leadership of ALC while Raybourn Group International conducts a search for the organization's long term Executive Director. She will be introduced to the ALC membership at the organization's Summer Meeting in Indianapolis this August.

Collectively, ALC members lead organizations that serve more than 4,000 associations and 14,000 professionals across 35 states and internationally, influencing industries, professions, and local economies at every level.
